[HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] yetregressing! I adore you, my dear, and I hope you have very many more happy birthdays. [livejournal.com profile] omnomnomface is not used with any kind of permission, but more the magic of a birthday, and because of that, I’m sorry if I totally butcher her. Ai asked for something with kittens, I said crack might be involved, and, well—here we are. Also, this is not binding on the verse by any sense of the word, but would be INCREDIBLY amusing if it ever happened.]

The day Castiel’s brother arrives in Chicago is the day that Castiel realizes he honestly didn’t miss him that much.

It’s also the day Castiel becomes a kitten.

Those two things could possibly be related, but for the most part, Castiel has reached that conclusion long before Gabriel turns him into a kitten. As much as he misses his brother, Gabriel’s contempt for Heaven and all its inhabitants hadn’t helped matters either way with the war. Now that he’s here in Chicago, Castiel has a feeling that he’s going to become nearly unbearable. With no one else to torment, it’s almost certain that Gabriel is going to put his focus on his little brother. As evidenced by the fact that Castiel now had four paws, a tail, and is now incapable of verbal communication.

It takes him a moment to wrestle his way out of the clothes and trench coat before stumbling onto the grass of Grant Park. He doesn’t like this new form. The senses are too intense, and everything seems so much larger than it should be. His head dips forward, sniffing at the grass in front of him before he lets out a small mewl of frustration. He doesn’t want to be a kitten. He wants to be an angel.

(Although, technically, he’s probably still an angel, just in a different vessel, but he doesn’t feel like arguing semantics right now.)

Fortunately for Castiel, a lot of his friends spend time in Grant Park. All he really needs to do is amble around until he happens to find one of them. Then attempt to communicate. Simple.

Unfortunately for Castiel, the first friend he happens to stumble upon is Trinity McFasater.

Castiel really has nothing against Trinity. He thinks she’s a nice girl with good intentions, and … impressively honest, even if she is a bit unstable. All things considered, Trinity is still a friend, and therefore she is a possible source of help, regardless of her mental stability.

“Oh. My. GOD. Look at you, you’re so adorable I can’t STAND it.”

Suddenly Castiel isn’t on the ground anymore. He’s flying through the air making surprised cat sounds as he gets cuddled right into Trinity’s chest, and her hand scritching him behind the ears. He wants to protest, say that what he needs his help, not scritches, but the scritches are surprisingly pleasurable. Despite himself, he starts in a low rumbling purr, soaking in the attention.

“AUGH I just want to keep you forever.” She moves her hand, tipping his head so that she could see his neck. “Doesn’t look like you have a collar. You could just come home with me! It will be awesome.”

Trinity then proceeds to ramble about all the amazing things they’re going to do together.

Castiel is starting to worry that this might not have been the best plan.

***

Three weeks later, he’s still living with Trinity. He hasn’t manage to get a hold of Sam or Jo, not that he can given his current state, and there has been no sign of Gabriel. Fighting against the mind of the kitten is starting to get harder. All he really wants to do is curl up with Trinity and occasionally chase a string she drags around the room for him. It’s a simple game, really, and it should not provide as much enjoyment as it does, and yet whenever something drags across the floor, he cannot resist the urge to pounce on it.

This happens fairly often. Apparently it is a game Trinity is never sick of.

Week Three is coming to a close and turning in to Week Four, when Gabriel suddenly appears in Trinity’s room. Trinity looks up at him, frowning in concern when it happens. “Who the hell are you?”

“I’m here for my brother.” His eyes then fall to where Castiel is sitting on the floor. “It’s been almost a month. I thought you would have come groveling by now.”

Castiel gives an impatient mewl in response. He just wants his body back already.

Trinity, on the other hand, is pushing up to her feet. “Hey. You can’t talk to my kitten like that!”

“Your kitten?”
Gabriel smirks for a moment, before snapping his fingers and the next thing anyone knows, Castiel is standing, very naked, in the middle of Trinity’s room. This probably isn’t an odd occurrence for her, but it is very strange for him. He blinks at them both for a moment before sighing heavily.

“Thank you,” he sighs. “Before changing me back.”

“Castiel?” Trinity looks incredibly confused and not at all phased by the situation. “You were my kitten?”

“Yes.”

“Who’s this guy?”

“Trinity, this is my brother, Gabriel.”

“Gabriel? The brother who’s in the mob?”

Gabriel frowns, then turns to Castiel. “Your brother who’s in the what?”

Castiel just sighs. “It is a long story.” Then there’s a pause, because while Trinity and Gabriel are studying each other as though each is some kind of strange creature from another world. He sits in the silence for a moment, before finally speaking up. He isn’t expecting an answer, but he feels that, at the moment, it is the most important question to ask.

“May I go get some clothing now?”

He really hopes they don’t say no.

OMG BAW. THANK YOU. *melts into a million piles of goo*

Just. THAT WAS WONDERFUL. And Trin would totally take a kitten home. And play with it all the time and never be sick of dragging a string across the floor.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDAY PRESENT AND I SHALL TREASURE IT FOREVER. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

LMAO *ded*

This is wonderful in more ways than I can say. Castiel and Trinity alone are golden, but adding Gabriel and Castiel-the-kitten to it takes it to a whole new level. XD
